I bought one of these for my wife's Trek mountain bike after she'd lived with one of these on her Jamis road bike with a compact double crankset. Never had the chain fall onto the bottom bracket. I had to trim the plastic a bit to allow the clamp to close tightly around my seat post; but after that, it went on easily. It seems to be made for larger diameter tubes. Does exactly as advertised.
